This Weekend at FPCP (December 24th and 25th)

December 23, 2011

Here is what is happening at FPCP this weekend:

Saturday, December 24th (Christmas Eve)

Our annual Christmas Eve Service of Lessons and Carols will be held on Saturday, December 24th, from 5-5:45pm. This service is a wonderful opportunity to read Scripture and sing hymns that remind us of the “big picture” of Christmas: our need for a Savior, God’s promise of the Savior, God’s provision of the Savior, and our response to the Savior. We will end the service by singing “Silent Night” by candlelight.
The Christmas Eve Service is family-friendly as it includes lots of congregational singing and a short homily, but a nursery will also be provided.

You can click here to view the bulletin for Christmas Eve.

Sunday, December 25th (Christmas Day)

This year we have the unique opportunity to gather to worship together on Christmas Day. Our Morning Worship service will be at the regular time of 11am. Please note that we will not meet for Sunday School or Evening Worship on Christmas Day. We hope you will enjoy celebrating Christ’s birth with your family and friends.

This Sunday at FPCP (December 18, 2011)

December 17, 2011

Please make plans to join us this coming Sunday, December 18th. Our Morning Worship Service is from 11am-Noon and our annual Christmas Caroling Outreach is from 5:45-7:15pm. We also have Sunday School classes for all ages from 10-10:45am.

We have no greater duty or privilege than to worship God, and so it is good to prepare well for worship. One way you can do that is by reading through this week’s bulletin in order to begin focusing your heart and mind on worshipping God.

In the Morning Worship Service we will continue our series on the topic of Christmas. This week, we will look at Matthew 1:18-25 and study the issue of the virgin birth of Jesus Christ. Come and be encouraged as we consider this miraculous and important truth!

On Sunday Evening we will be having our annual Christmas Caroling Outreach from 5:45-7:15pm. We will meet at the church, and then go visit two local nursing homes and sing Christmas Carols for the residents. James 1:27 teaches us that one way true Christianity manifests itself is this: “to visit orphans and widows in their affliction.” Our Christmas Caroling Outreach is a wonderful way to do just that, so please make plans to join us.

Sunday is the Lord’s Day, and he has designed this day for our benefit as we enjoy rest from our work and the worship of God with his people. We hope you will take advantage of this coming Sunday at First Presbyterian Church, and that you will enjoy the life-giving rest for your soul that is only found in Jesus Christ.

Join us on Christmas Eve from 5:00 pm – 5:45 pm for a family friendly service of Lessons and Carols. There will be lots of singing so kids will really enjoy the service. Feel free to bring extended family as well.

We pray this service will help you focus on Jesus this Christmas season. Hope to see you there!

This Sunday at FPCP (December 11, 2011)

December 9, 2011

Please make plans to join us this coming Sunday, December 11th. Our Morning Worship Service is from 11am-Noon and our annual Christmas Party is from 5:30-7:00pm. We also have Sunday School classes for all ages from 10-10:45am.

We have no greater duty or privilege than to worship God, and so it is good to prepare well for worship. One way you can do that is by reading through  in order to begin focusing your heart and mind on worshipping God.

In the Morning Worship Service we will begin a short series on the topic of Christmas. This week, we will look at Matthew 1:1-17 and see how Jesus’ birth was a part of God’s sovereign plan to redeem his people. Come and be encouraged by how God has worked in wisdom, love, and grace to provide us the Savior, Jesus Christ.

On Sunday Evening we will be having our annual Christmas Party from 5:30-7:00pm. We will enjoy appetizers and desserts, fellowship, a brief devotional, and a time of singing Christmas hymns together. We hope you will make plans to join us!
