This Sunday at FPCP (January 15th)

January 13, 2012

Jesus said that God made the Lord’s Day as a gift for us (Mark 2:27). On this day we can enjoy the gift of both resting from our work and worshipping God together with his people. We hope you will take advantage of this precious gift and join us for worship this coming Sunday, January 15th!

On Sunday Morning we will meet for Sunday School at 10am and for Morning Worship at 11am. The Adults will begin a new Sunday School class this week entitled, “Foundations of the Christian Faith: A One-Year Overview of Theology,” taught by Rev. Fender. You can purchase the book for this class here. The Youth (6-12th Grade) will also begin a study of the book of Romans, taught by Rev. Fray. The other Sunday School classes will continue in their studies of the Names of God (3-5th Grade), the Bible and It’s Message (K-2nd Grade), and the life of Jesus (Toddlers). Please take advantage of these wonderful opportunities to deepen your knowledge and love for God and His Word!

On Sunday Evening we will gather for Evening Worship at 6pm. We will spend time singing hymns and praying together, and then break into classes for all ages. The adults will continue their study of the book of Galatians by considering why being justified (made right with God) by faith alone is easy to understand, but hard to believe and to apply to everyday life.

As you look forward to Sunday, please remember to prepare your heart for this day. True worship is not merely a matter of going a worship service, but a matter of engaging your heart in that worship service in both spirit and truth (John 4:24). One way you can prepare your heart for worship is to read through what we will be doing in this week’s worship service. Consider the hymns we will sing, the Scripture passages we will read, and the truths we will confess. And pray that God will be at work in your heart to know him more truly, love him more deeply, and trust in him more steadfastly as you worship him this Sunday.
