Preparing for Worship This Sunday

November 11, 2011

Please make plans to join us for our worship services this coming Sunday, November 13th. Our Morning Worship Service is from 11am-Noon and our Evening Worship Service is from 6-7pm. We also have Sunday School classes for all ages from 10-10:45am. We have no greater duty or privilege than to worship God, and so it is good to prepare well for worship. One way you can do that is by reading through this Sunday’s bulletin in order to begin focusing your heart and mind on worshipping God.

In the Morning Worship Service we will be contiuning our study of the book of Deuteronomy. This week we will be looking at Chapter 16, verses 1-8, where Moses discusses the Jewish feast of Passover. What was this feast about and how does it relate to us as Christians? Come and find out! We will also have an opportunity to pray for our Senior Pastor, John Fender, and his wife, Leslie, as they prepare to leave for a ten-day trip to England where they will be visiting some church-planting missionaries our church supports and ministering God’s Word to their growing congregations.

In the Evening Worship Service we will sing and pray together, and then the children will be dismissed to nursery and classes while the adults continue their study of 1 Peter. This week we will consider Peter’s famous words about prayer in 1 Peter 5:7, “Cast all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.” Come and see what the Bible has to say about worry and anxiety, as well as the relief and comfort that comes from knowing God.

Sunday is the Lord’s Day, and he has designed this day for our benefit as we enjoy rest from our work and the worship of God with his people. We hope you will take advantage of this coming Sunday at First Presbyterian Church, and that you will enjoy the life-giving rest for your soul that is only found in Jesus Christ.
